Sir Walter was grouped into a class of tobacco known as the “American Blends”. These were tobacco mixtures for pipe that had much in common with the American cigarettes of their era. They were made of burley blend pipe tobacco, which is one of the most popular tobaccos used to make American-style blends. The other distinctive factor was that they included Latakia, a type of tobacco that adds a distinctively smoky flavor and aroma. Sir Walter Raleigh, being a gentleman and all, knew that a premium tobacco blend was in order here. That is why he combined the finest Burley tobaccos with just the right amount of Virginia and rich aromas to create our fine pipe tobacco. Each pouch or tin of Sir Walter Raleigh Original Pipe Tobacco also includes a unique cushioned plastic bag for protection against breaks and spills.
